What I meant when I said and I think you misheard me
Is that the idea was unexpected
You see as that wasn't what we were talking about
At least it didn't seem to be the case
My mind was going in an utterly different direction

To continue with what we were talking about
I didn't mean to imply that you were anything less than up-front
Although it did seem, for a moment, you were going to waffle on the point
Or, perhaps, change the direction of the conversation to which I would have no objection

Now just give me a moment from the discussion to pour you and I a drink
As I know these endeavors tend to be thirsty work
And the last thing we need is an interruption, due to a scratchy throat

So now that we seem to agree about what it is that we're discussing
We shall press on
Without the bother of having to discuss what the topic is
Although, this does not guarantee the discussion will be
Satisfactory to you, or me, or neither or both of us, oh yeah
