A man stood still with heavy heart
His world about to fall apart
For after seventeen years of love
He must now let go like a dove
His beloved wife so kind and true
Was leaving him this he knew
Her life though young she couldn't stay
And so she had to go away
Fifteen years her youth had given
And though it pained him he was driven
To let her soar and find her way
Despite the cost he would not sway
For love is more than just a feeling
It's sometimes hard and unrevealing
But to let go is sometimes best
To grant the freedom of the quest
So with a heavy heart he kissed her cheek
And watched her leave though he felt weak
But he knew that love would still remain
And memories of her would ease the pain
And though his heart would ache and mourn
He knew that life would still go on
And in his heart he'd keep the flame
Of the love they shared and the memories same
