Fat Stallion - Steel Doors Lyrics

Just like that I woke up in a town quite like this
But every door was boarded up and the streets were all a mess
I stumbled my way to the nearest frying pan
But in the doorway stood a dusty wise old man

He said
Son it looks as though you're feeling pretty low
And I've gotta say I've been there a time or two before
So before you lay your cards down and lay down in the ground
Remember that we all fight steel doors

He said his name was Arlo as he welcomed me inside
He told me what to leave alone like he had something to hide
He offered me a drink of something strong that had no taste
Said he had the feeling that I didn't know the way

He said
Son it looks as though you're feeling pretty low
And I've gotta say I've been there a time or two before
So before you lay your cards down and lay down in the ground
Remember that we all fight steel doors
He turned and led me to the back store room of his tiny little shop
Leaning on the wall was a heavy metal door
Deadbolts and chains and barricades made sure it never opened
I heard screams on the other side that Arlo couldn't hear

He said
Son it looks as though you're feeling pretty low
And I've gotta say I've been there a time or two before
This little cage of mine keeps in all that I find
And never lets this pain out to the world
So before you lay your cards down and lay down in the ground
Remember that we all fight steel doors

And then, wouldn't you know it
That damn door fell down and crushed Arlo right then and there
