Evergreen Eyes - good things (don't happen twice) Lyrics

Anna walks alone to a house that she owns with somebody else
But lately it hasn't felt like it much
She pushes it down the thought
She might be better off
But it was so good back in high school
She remembers the fireworks of kisses in parking lots
Now She sits alone at night
Wondering if she'll ever find
The version of them she once had

It's the reason we scroll a little longer and
Try to stretch time
Go back to the buffet for just one more slice
Push the boundary and tear up at goodbye
It's the fear that good things just don't happen twice

Marcus paces around
The room where he last said goodbye
Stubborn tears and plaster
He rethinks the patterns of his words
He hears the echoes every first hello and he wonders
If his ears could ever again
Hear such a symphony
Like the last good thing
He let ruin his world

It's the reason we scroll a little longer and
Try to stretch time
Go back to the buffet for just one more slice
Push the boundary and tear up at goodbye
It's the fear that good things just don't happen twice

I lay awake at night
Replaying in my mind the day i let us die
Every fear taken as a sign
So afraid to fall I couldn't let myself try
A mind of Make believe time machines
To a place where the grass is always green
I want you to be real again And not just the words in my poetry

But it's the reason I scroll a little longer and try to race with time
Go over every word you said that i took as a lie
Writing to remember all that came before 'goodbye'
All from my fear that a good thing like us just can't happen twice
