Esvi - Nocturne Lyrics

Esvi - Nocturne Lyrics
Official

A Nocturne from the French which meant nocturnal
Is usually a musical composition that
Is inspired by or evocative of the night
The name nocturne was first applied to pieces in the 18th century
Normally played for an evening party
Sometimes it carried the Italian equivalent, notturno
Such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Notturno in DK286
And his Serenata Notturna K239
At this time the piece was not necessarily evocative of the night
But might merely be intended for performance at night
Much like a serenade
The chief difference between the serenade and the Notturno
Was the time of the evening at which they would typically be performed
The latter closer to 11 PM
The most famous exponent of the form was Frédéric Chopin
Chopin's Nocturne in E flat major opus 9 number 2
Was composed between 1830 and 1832
When Chopin was around 20 years old
It is regarded as Chopin's most famous piece
He dedicated his op 9 nocturnes
A set of 3 to Maria Pleyel
The wife of an acquaintance of Chopin's
Am I going to see you over the week end
Are we going to be together until the end
She's compelled to slow her pace to enjoy the ride
Walking past the clouds by your side
Thinking out-loud to make our worlds collide
And you are not aroused by my foolish pride
Then I grab you by the waist and warmly whisper in your ear
A dab of red on your face and a premature trace of a tear
You dreading that like the cold winter wind blows
Alone staring at the snow as a squinter through the windows
