Erinem - Sparring Partner Freestyle Lyrics
Official

Elbows in, Shaolin
Can you feel the energy shift
As I'm bowing in?
Nobody in the world, or this industry
Ever will be, or has ever been
Fit to deflect a hit
When I challenge them
It feels feral, but close to a collab
A fable, The Whale versus Ahab
No other fighter can do what we do
Our card reads "Indiana versus The Tomb
But who's playing whom?
We may throw some jabs, and a few harpoons
And it always comes down to
Cat and mouse
The chase, the pounce
A battle royale
It boils down to us being two parts of a cartoon
A cat to a canary, but who plays which
Will sometimes vary
Convoluted and contrary
Often adversarial
Together we're feared
But solo we're terrible, it feels
Like one half of a stereo field
You were born to be at odds with me
Of course it's par for us
The perfect spar, going bar for bar
The curtains fall, we both got our walls up
But as soon as you come at me, with the Block Cut
I know then for sure, walls between us
Just means parkour, we're both immature
We argue over who should play the encore
We cuss and spit, trade French
But never bother with the Bonjour
But when you stall out
Or you're blocked in
Like a Walmart parking lot
The day after Thanksgiving
Who else can ignite the fight in you?
Gas you up, be the fuel
Let you laugh it up, be the fool
Get a few hurts and stabs in
But who can also deflect, direct contact
When it spins
When it's time to take the jabs
That you want to give them?
Who else but me has thick enough skin?
You need a real sparring partner
You gotta be sick of scrimmaging
It's you and me
At our lowest, and in our prime
Like two and three
We've been working the keys
Like janitors, I gave you my answers
We opened the box
There's no neatly putting Pandora away
What's done is the damages
We can't put the graffiti we sprayed
Back in the canisters
We definitely can't stop the stairs
But we can be each other's banisters
We belong in these bars
Like vomit or amateur comics
Or karaoke artists
In a too-close-to-call contest
It must be in our nature
We run the same playbook
While our ops just run off
Like glaciers being sun-cooked
And who else can trade shots
It's bars for barter
The writing's on the stall door
You were born to be my sparring partner
Enough of the politeness
We feed on, and need a little violence
Seems like with the media
We got a touch of the Midas
We're so volatile, they're afraid to mic us
So qualified though, who's gonna fight us?
We're a weight class, a typecast
Came too far not to be self-righteous
Fighting us is like a chainsaw against a ficus
That's why they love us but don't like us
They think they're an even match
But can't even strike us
Who else is that true for?
Appears just me and you, I'm at your door
Reminding you, cause you forgot
We're placed in the top
Cause we keep facing off
Clearly cut from the same cloth
Or carved by the same carpenter
Rolled up in one rug
At the same carpet store
The connection's more direct
Than it appeared before
It's going toe-to-toe, pushing harder
Getting towed back into harbor
It's like miracle grow to a gardener
A strong bow for a broken archer
The arrival to your departure
The butane to your flame
The fire starter
That's what I've been saying
We were born to be each other's
Sparring partner
