Walked into a building, South Florida heat outside,
AYE G church, rock music blasting wide.
The stage was shaking, voices raised high,
People dancing, arms waving to the sky.
The band played like they were set on fire,
I thought I'd stumbled into a rock choir.
The praise was pumping, louder than a jet,
And I hadn't even broken a sweat yet.
They were singing "Hallelujah!" with electric guitar,
Dancing so hard you'd think we're in a bar.
I'm clapping off-beat, trying to blend in,
But then the tongues start rolling, and here's where it begins.
I look around, and what do I see?
A whole crowd babbling, as wild as can be.
So I join in, with the baby talk flow,
Goo-goo, ga-ga, let's give it a go!
They're singing for an hour, and I'm losing my mind,
The pastor's jumping like he's leaving Earth behind.
People speaking tongues, it's a spiritual rave,
I'm trying to stay cool, but I'm feeling like a slave.
The lady next to me starts swaying in a trance,
So I fake a little tongue-talk, giving it a chance.
I'm mumbling some gibberish, pretending it's divine,
And now I'm in the middle of this holy conga line.
The drums kick in, the lights get low,
The spirit's moving fast, but my words are slow.
I'm stuck in this cycle, groupthink's got my brain,
They're chanting "amen," and I'm stuck in the game.
I start with "ba-ba-ba" and "shoobee-dee-doo,"
Now I'm singing nonsense like the rest of the crew!
Left the building with a headache and a grin,
Did I just babytalk my way to a sin?
South Florida heat hit me like a sign,
Maybe next time, I'll leave before the line!
