E'en Jae - Death Anniversary Lyrics

Saw your video
When I heard that last bar, I knew it was serious, man

You left us all shocked, on a Saturday morning
I had to explore it, heard 'copters patrolling
I was in the wee hours writing mean verses
I never sleep, sun going up; I be up rehearsing
Want everything to be perfect... for the booth
FB details matched the news site, so it's true
So I'm rolling down Route 5 for an afternoon drive
And try to piece together yo' mindset in due time
It's the people around you that make you wanna view life
After some piece of advice, it's due time
10Gs in, yeah, it's due time, bills are piling up
Buried financially, now my whip is acting up
Another on the list of things going wrong
I'm holding on, now my mood is growing strong
Gave up years ago but the passion was greater
Mastered the craft so I levitated like an elevator
Nigga, you know who's greater. I watched you grow
Like a proud brother seeing you put in work
Came up with disses to bring out the best in you
Never did 'cuz ya don't know the methods I use
Morphed into a superhero, dropping track after track
But nobody could fathom what would happen after that
So let me take it further back to our high school days
Where everyone was competition, even my schoolmates
Bumped heads thru a few grades, wanting to be nice
You couldn't take it, had a battle and figured you were right
Must've been your first battle 'cuz you weren't that nice
But that's alright, practice makes perfect, right
This was way back when I was robbing students
In my mood swings, quiet watching movements
Watching you go in with the same crew we joked with
Many were proud to see you do your own thing
And I know how bad the pressure can be
It can weigh heavy on anybody, let's see
I was on the same path, "Loser" was my name tag
I felt the shame so I took an aim and became that
Ready to kill myself and leave my daughter behind
Thinkin', ''She's too young to know, hoping she'll be fine''
But that's not the case, she'll miss me just the same
Will this be the last time she ever sees my face
And this is what we're left with unanswered questions
Lessons we can benefit from with reflection
Confession: it's always hard to see someone you know die
Don't know why; till its too late and ya ask God why

March 9
Rest in peace, Ze'
Rest in peace
