I have hope
I have hope that today
My skies will clear
And I'll be one step closer to
Living with less fear
Yes
I have hope
And I have hope that you too will be pursued
By the will to live again
Beyond your ends
This is why I pen to you my friend
As an ink-stained revolutionary
How I pray these words will carry
Into your quiet moments
And disturb anxiety
Quell uncertainty
Remind you of your place in eternity
And dispel the lies of your enemies
For we know
That life is still worth living,
And the current struggles of today be matched
With what's ahead of you
If you choose to continue
For now is not forever
And though hope deferred
Makes the heart sick, I pray
That you will soon feast from its branches
As it springs forth a Tree of Life
We have wept under the shroud of cold nights
But will soon dance
With the joy of mornings
With radiant light
And if the word holds true
That we are created, Imago Dei
As they say
Then grave must give way
For you and I
To rise
Rise with me
