Dolly Parton - Rockstar Album Lyrics

Dolly Parton - Rockstar Lyrics

Rockstar

(Good Lord, stop that noise)
Well, I have to practice
(Why in the world would anybody wanna be in rock 'n' roll?)
(Aw, honey, she says it's her dream, it's her passion)
(That's passion? Give me a break)
Well, I'm gonna be in rock 'n' roll, whether you two like it or not
I'll show them

Rockstar (rockstar, rockstar, rockstar, rockstar)
Rockstar (rockstar, rockstar, rockstar, rockstar)

After school I know the rules, do my chores in a hurry
My radio, my records wait inside my sanctuary
A teenage dreamer, dreaming one day I could be a star
I close my door, turn on my amp, and plug in my guitar

I'm a rockstar (rockstar)
They say if you can dream it, you can have it so I play
Hear me play
Rockstar (rockstar)
I stand before my mirror, play and sing and dream, someday
I'll be standing in the lights, selling shows out every night
Have 'em dancing in the aisles, I'll be famous
I'll be a rockstar

"Stop that god-awful music," Mama's yelling from the kitchen
Me, I smell success along with Mama's fryin' chicken
Dad storms in my room, unplugs my amp and starts his bitchin'
But to their sorrow, I'll just do the same dang thing tomorrow

I'm a rockstar (rockstar)
They say if you can dream it, you can have it so I play
I play
Rockstar (rockstar)
I stand before my mirror, play and sing and dream, someday
I'll be standing in the lights, selling shows out every night
Have 'em dancing in the aisles, I'll be famous
I'll be a rockstar

(Squalling at the top of your lungs and twangin' on that old damned guitar)
(It ain't gon' get you nowhere)
(Honey, you need to get out of this house, make some friends, do something ordinary)
Well, I don't wanna be ordinary
I wanna be a (rockstar) rockstar

Don't you ever give up on your dreams
No matter how far-fetched they seem
They may not be all that extreme
And I dreamed, I dreamed, I dreamed, I dreamed, I dreamed, I dreamed
I dreamed I was a rockstar

They say if you can dream it, you can have it so just play
Rockstar (rockstar)
Stand before your mirror, play and sing and dream away
That you'll be standing in the lights, selling shows out every night
Have 'em dancing in the aisle, you'll be famous
You'll be a rockstar (rockstar)

They say if you can dream it, you can have it so I play
Oh, yea-yeah
Rockstar (rockstar)
I'm standing on the stage now and I thank God every day
My folks dancin' in the aisle, screaming out, "Hey, that's our child"
Jerry Reed would say, "Yeah, right," now they claim me
They always thought I'd be a rockstar

Rockstar (rockstar)
Rockstar
(Rockstar) I'm gonna be, yeah, I'm gonna be, yeah
I'm gonna be a rockstar
I'm gonna be, yeah, I'm gonna be, yeah, I'm gonna be a
I'm gonna be a rockstar

World on Fire

Liar, liar the world's on fire
Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?
Fire, fire burning higher
Still got time to turn it all around

Now I ain't one for speaking out much
But that don't mean I don't stay in touch
Everybody's trippin' over this or that
What we gonna do when we all fall flat?

Liar, liar the world's on fire
What we gonna do when it all burns down?

I don't know what to think about us
When did we lose in God we trust
God Almighty, what we gonna do
If God ain't listenin' and we're deaf too

Liar, liar the world's on fire
Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?
Fire, fire burning higher
Still got time to turn it all around

Don't get me started on politics
Now how are we to live in a world like this
Greedy politicians, present and past
They wouldn't know the truth if it bit 'em in the ass

(Whatcha gonna do?)
Now tell me what is truth?
(Whatcha gonna do?)
Have we all lost sight
(Whatcha gonna do?)
Of common decency?
(Whatcha gonna do?)
Of the wrong and right?

How do we heal this great divide?
Do we care enough to try?
Liar, liar the world's on fire
What we gonna do when it all burns down?

Billy got a gun, Joey got a knife
Janey got a sign to carry in the fight
Marching in the streets with sticks and stones
Don't you ever believe words don't break bones

Oh, can we rise above?
Can't we show some love?
Do we just give up
Or make a change?
We know all too well
We've all been through hell
Time to break the spell
In Heaven's name

Liar, liar the world's on fire
Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?
Fire, fire burning higher
Still got time to turn it all around

Liar, liar the world's on fire
Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?
Fire, fire burning higher
Still got time to turn it all around

(Liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?)
(Liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?)
Show some love (liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Still got time to turn it all around)
Let's rise above (liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?)
Let's make a stand (liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?)
Let's lend a hand (liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Still got time to turn it all around)
Let's heal the hurt (liar, Liar, the world's on fire)
(Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?)
Let kindness work (liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?)
Let's be a friend (liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?)
Let hatred end (liar, liar, the world's on fire)
(Whatcha gonna do)

Liar, liar, the world's on fire
Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?
Liar, liar, the world's on fire
Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?

Every Breath You Take

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you

Oh, can't you see?
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Since you've gone I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying, baby, baby, please

Oh, can't you see?
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
And every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Every move you make
Every step you take
I'll be watching you (I'll be watching you)
I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you
Watching you
I'll be watching you

(Every breath you take)
(Every move you make)
(Every bond you break)
You take (every step you take)
I'll be watching you (every single day)
(Every word you say)
(Every game you play)
(Every night you stay) I'll be watching you
(Every breath you take)
(Every move you make)
(Every bond you break)
Every smile you fake (every step you take)
(Every single day)
(Every word you say)
(Every game you play) every breath you take (every night you stay)
(Every breath you take)

(Every bond you break) every move you make
(Every step you take)
(Every single day)
(Every word you say)
(Every game you play) every vow you break (every night you stay)
(Every breath you take)
(Every move you make)
(Every bond you break) every move you make (every step you take)

Open Arms

Lying beside you
Here in the dark
Feeling your heartbeat with mine
Softly you whisper
You're so sincere
How could our love be so blind?
We sailed on together
We drifted apart
And here you are by my side

So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms

(This empty house seems so cold)

Living without you
Living alone
This empty house seems so cold
Wanting to hold you
Wanting you near
How much I wanted you home

But now that you've come back
Turned night into day
I (I), I need you (need you) to stay
Please, stay (please, stay)

And so now I come to you
With open arms
With nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms

(This empty house seems so cold)

Magic Man

Cold late night, so long ago
When I was not so strong, you know
A pretty man came to me
I never seen eyes so blue

You know I could not run away, it seemed
We'd seen each other in a dream
Seemed like he knew me
He looked right through me, yeah

"Come on home, girl," he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me yet, just get high awhile
But try to understand
Try to understand
Try, try, try to understand
I'm the magic man"

Winter nights, we sang in tune
Played inside the months of moon
Never think of never
Let this spell last forever

Summer lover passed to fall
Tried to realize it all
Mama says she's worried
You're growing up in a hurry, oh yeah

"Come on home, girl," Mama cried on the phone
"Too soon to lose my baby yet, my girl should be at home"
But try to understand
Try to understand
Try, try, try to understand
He's a magic man
Mama
Ooh, he got magic hands

"Come on home, girl," he said with a smile
"I cast my spell of love on you, a woman from a child"
But try to understand
Try to understand
Try, oh
Try, yeah, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand
He's a magic man
Magic man
He's a magic man

A magic man with luring eyes, changed the course of my young life
He was a magic man
I was oh, so quick to learn, I was caught up in the burn
Of the magic man
No one else could understand, unless you've loved a magic man
Oh, the way he swept me off my feet, mama's love could not compete
A magic man is like a drug and I'm addicted to his love

He is a magic man
He got magic hands

Oh, "Come on home, girl", he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile"
But try to understand
Try to understand
Try, try, try to understand
He's a magic man, yeah, yeah
Oh

Long As I Can See The Light

Put a candle in the window
'Cause I feel I've got to move
(Though I'm goin', goin', I'll be coming home soon)
Long as I see the light

(Pack my bag and let's get movin')
'Cause I'm bound to drift a while
(Well I'm goin', goin', you don't have to worry, no)
Long as I see the light

(That flame)

Guess I've got that old travelin' bone
'Cause this feelin' won't leave me alone
(But I won't, I won't be losin' my way, no, no)
Long as I see the light
(Yeah) yeah, (yeah) yeah, (yeah) oh, yeah

Put a candle in the window
'Cause I've really got to move
Though I'm goin', goin', I'll be coming home soon
(Long as I see the light)

Just as long as I see the light
Long as I see the light
(Long as I see the light) see the light, oh
(Long as I see the light)
I'm comin' home, I'm comin' home
(Long as I see the light) see the light
(Long as I see the light)
(Yeah)

Either Or

You said you loved me, couldn't bear to live without me
(Yeah, baby, that's true)
I never gave you a cause to doubt me
(Always knew I could depend on you)
I ain't fallin' for your lies no more
(That sounds like a heartache for sure)

I won't take your cheating ways another minute
(Well, it's only been a time or two)
This love is done, if you ain't completely in it
(But baby, there's nobody like you)
You either stay, or either you go
It's an either-or situation

Either shape it up or pack it up and go now
(Oh, baby, you know that I'm tryin')
Turn about's fair play, thought you ought to know now
(Come on baby, please don't eat me alive)

I'm giving you fair warning baby, and I mean what I say
It's either-or, and that's the ultimatum
(Now baby, let's just start all over again)
Mistakes were made, and you're the one that made 'em
(Sometimes you gotta do some losin' to win)
It's me or them, you'll take your choice
It's an either-or situation

You know I love you so let's try to make it better
Whatever we gotta do
You make the rules, babe, I'll follow to the letter
Come on, take me to school

It's either-or (take me to school)
That's the ultimatum (that's how it's gonna be, huh? Come on)
Mistakes were made, hey, I ain't the one that made 'em
(I ain't gonna do it no more, baby, I promise)

I won't take your cheatin' ways another minute
(It's only been a time or two)
This love is done if we ain't completely in it
(Now baby, I'm all in it for you)
You either stay, or either you go (either you go)
(I could never leave you)
It's me or them, baby, you make the choice
This is an either-or
(Either-or, either-or)

(Please give me one more chance)
I'll give you one last chance (I think I deserve it)
It's your choice, it's either-or, either-or
And this time, I really mean it
(I love you, baby)

I Want You Back

I broke every promise that I made to you
I broke my word when I said I'd be true
I broke your heart when I found someone new
And broke you all to pieces when I walked out on you

But now when I kiss him, I'm still tasting you
And when we make love, your face comes to view
(I hear somebody else is loving on you)
(It drives me insane, I can't take the pain)
(I'm the world's biggest fool)
No, I was a fool and I want you back

(I want you back) yeah, I want you back
(I want you back) can you forgive me?
Is it too much to ask?
Oh, I was so wrong
To treat you like that
I'm fallin' apart
I broke both our hearts
Now I want you back

What can I do to make it up to you?
The hurt and the pain that I put you through
(Yeah, you put me through)
Oh, I was such a fool to ever let you go

Now I want you back
I want you back (I want you back)
I'm lonely and lost (lonely in love)
And I'm goin' mad (yeah, I lost my mind)
(Yeah) and the new love I've found (yeah, yeah)
Don't even know where he's at
Oh, but he did make me see (yeah)
What you mean to me (yeah)
And I want you back

Oh, if you'd take me back (if I take you back)
I promise to spend (do you promise to? Promise to-)
The rest of my life (rest of)
Makin' amends (oh, making amends)
Oh, I'd crawl on my knees (yeah)
Oh, yes, I'd even do that (ooh, would you do that?)
I'm fallin' apart, I broke my own heart
And I want you back
Yeah, I know what I've lost and I'm payin' the cost
And I want you back

(You did me wrong) I did you wrong
I know that, I know that
(You left me alone, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Let me come home
(You walked out on me, yeah)
Why'd I do that? Why did I do that?
(You asked to be free, baby)
But now I don't wanna be (I want you back)
(How could I trust it?)
Oh, you can trust me, you can trust me, just trust me, you can trust me
(I want you back)
(But you left me busted)
(I want you back)
(I want you back)
(Yeah, if you did it then)
(I know you will do it again) I want you back, I want you back, I want you back
(Yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah) I want you back
(Yea-yeah)

What Has Rock And Roll Ever Done For You

(Hey Dolly, who's up first?)
Well, Stevie, it's your song, you go
(Yeah, but it's your album)
Well, stand back

She was a self-made woman, he's a self-made man
And these two could really understand each other
Baby, baby
Answer the question
If you could do it all over again
(Would you do it?) about your profession

What has rock and roll ever done for you?
(You too)
What has rock and roll ever done for me?
(Everything) take it, girl

Every day he says, "Answer the question
Could you tell me just a little more about your profession?"

(Would you do it again?) Oh, I'd do it again
(Yes, I would) oh, yes, I would
(I had a really good time) really good time
(Well, it was really good) I remember

What has rock and roll ever done for you?
You too
He said, "What has rock and roll ever done for me?"
I said, "Everything"

What has rock and roll ever done for us?
(Well, well) I'll have another glass of something pink
(Champagne, baby) sounds good

Every day he says, "Answer the question"
Answer the question
"Would you tell me just a little bit more about your profession?"

We had a really good time, baby
I had a really good time
Well, I'll meet you on the way back
Well, I'll get you on the playback

I had a really good time
I had a really good time
Well, I'll meet you on the way back
Oh yes, I'll get you on the playback

So, what has rock and roll ever done for you?
You too
She says, "What has rock and roll ever done for me?"
I said everything

I'll have another glass of something pink
Champagne, baby
(Ooh, pass me a glass of some of that French champagne)
(Hey, pop that cork, baby)

I had a really good time
Ooh, I had a really good time
I had a really, really, really, really, really good time
(I had a really good time) ooh, it was so good

She was a self-made woman, he's a self-made man
What has rock and roll ever done for you?

What has rock and roll ever done for me?
She says, "I'll get you on the way back"
Oh baby, I'll get you on the playback

Baby, I will get you on the way back
Hey, I'll catch you on the way back
Ooh, baby, I'll get you on the way back
Answer the question
What has rock and roll ever done for you?

Hey, Stevie, how about another glass of that pink champagne?
(Oh, Dolly, I don't drink no more)
Well, I don't drink no less
This was fun, we're gonna have to do this again sometime

Purple Rain

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
Never meant to cause you any pain
Only wanted one time to see you laughin'
I only want to see you laughin' in the purple rain

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only want to see you bathing in the purple rain

I never wanted to be your weekend love
I only wanted to be some kind of friend
Baby, I could never steal you from another
It's such a shame our friendship had to end

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only want to see you underneath the purple rain

Honey, I know, I know, the times are changin'
It's time we all reach out for something new
And that means you, too
You say you want a leader
But you can't seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I want to see you, I want to see you
In the purple rain

(Purple rain)
(Purple rain)
I never meant to hurt you, baby (purple rain)

(Purple rain)
(Purple rain)
(Purple rain)

Honey, I know, I know, I know
It's a shame

(Only want to see you laughing)
(Only want to see you laughing)
In the purple rain
(Purple rain)
(Purple rain)
(Purple rain)
Want to see you laughing in the purple rain
(Purple rain)
(Purple rain)
(Purple rain)

In the purple rain

Baby I Love Your Way

Shadows grow so long before my eyes
And they're moving across the page
Suddenly the day turns into night
Far away from the city
But don't hesitate
'Cause your love won't wait

Ooh, baby, I love your way (every day)
I want to tell you I love your way, every way
I want to be with you night and day
I love your way

(Moon appears to shine and light the sky)
With the help (of some) fireflies
I wonder how they have the power to shine, shine, shine
(I can see them) yes, I see them
(Yeah) under the pine

(But don't) don't
(Hesitate) hesitate
(Yeah, your love) 'cause your love
(Won't wait) won't wait

Ooh, baby I love your way (every day) every day
I wanna tell you I love your way (every way) every way
I wanna be with you night and day
Yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah

(But don't) don't
(Hesitate) hesitate
('Cause your love) 'cause your love
(Won't wait) your love won't wait

I can see the sunset in your eyes
Brown and grey, yeah
Through the sights
Clouds are stalking islands in the sun
(Wish I could buy one) wish I could buy one
Out of season

(But don't) don't
(Hesitate) don't hesitate
(Yeah, your love) 'cause your love
(Won't wait) your love won't wait

I Hate Myself For Loving You

Hey Joan, don't you just hate it
When you love somebody so much
You just let them treat you anyway they want to
(Sure do, Dolly)
(Makes me hate myself)
Yeah, and I hate it when I hate myself
Well, you wrote a song about it
Grab your guitar and let me sing along with you
Let's go, girl

Midnight, gettin' uptight, where are you?
You said you'd meet me, now it's quarter to two
I know I'm hangin' but I'm still wantin' you
Hey Jack, it's a fact they're talkin' in town
I turn my back and you're messin' around
I'm not really jealous, don't like lookin' like a clown
I think of you every night and day
You took my heart and you took my pride away

(I hate myself for lovin' you)
I hate myself (can't break free from the things that you do)
Can't break free (I wanna walk but I run back to you)
(That's why I hate myself for lovin' you)

Daylight, spent the night without you
But I've been dreamin' 'bout the lovin' you do
I'm over being angry 'bout the hell you put me through
Hey, man, bet you can treat me right
You just don't know what you was missin' last night
I wanna see you begging, say forget it just for spite
I think of you every night and day
You took my heart and you took my pride away

I hate myself for lovin' you
Can't break free from the things that you do
I wanna walk but I run back to you
That's why I hate myself for lovin' you

I hate myself
For lovin' you
I think of you every night and day
You took my heart and you took my pride away

(I hate myself) for lovin' you
(Can't break free) from the things that you do
(I wanna walk) but I run back to you
I hate myself for lovin' you

I hate myself for lovin' you
Can't (I can't) break free from the things that you do
I wanna walk but I run back to you
That's why I hate myself for lovin' you

I hate myself (why can I not get loose?)
For lovin' you
I hate myself (I keep runnin' back to you)
For lovin' you
I hate myself (why do I keep holdin' on?)
For lovin' you
I hate myself (I hate myself, I hate myself, I hate myself)
For lovin' you

Night Moves

Yea-yeah

I was a little too small, coulda used a few pounds
Tight skirts, points hardly renowned
He was a handsome devil with mischief in his eyes
Together, we filled a void in our lives

It might've been wrong, but it felt so right
Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the backseat of that ole '60 Chevy (yea-yeah)
Workin' on mysteries without any clues

Just workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to make some front-page drive-in news
Workin' on our night moves
(In the summertime) makin' memories
In the sweet summertime, summertime

We weren't in love, oh no, far from it
We weren't searchin' for some pie in the sky or summit
We were just young, and restless, and bored
Living by the sword
And we'd steal away every chance we could
To backrooms, alleys, or the trusty woods
I used him and he used me
Neither one cared, we were gettin' our share

Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to lose those awkward teenage blues
Workin' on our night moves
(Summertime) don't you remember?
Sweet summertime, summertime, summertime

(Whoa, I wonder) I wonder (yeah)
Felt the lightnin' (felt the lightnin')
Waitin' on the thunder
Wait on the thunder, yea-yeah

I woke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started hummin' a song from 1962
(Ain't if funny how the night moves?)
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
(Strange, how the night moves)
With autumn closin' in

Sweet memories (night moves)
(Night moves)
(Workin' on our night moves)
(Oh, we been practicin') oh, yeah, I remember that
(I remember you) I will never forget you
(Yeah) (night moves)

I remember, I remember, I remember, I remember you too
(Night moves) finding heaven 'neath a sky of stars, yeah
(Workin' on our night moves) remember rockin' that ole Chevy car
(Those night moves)
(Thinkin' 'bout your night-)
(Night moves) skinny dippin' in a cement pond (yes, I remember)
Jitter buggin' on the church house lawn (I remember)

Wrecking Ball

We clawed, we chained our hearts in vain
We jumped, never asking why
We kissed, I fell under your spell
A love no one could deny

Don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you
I can't live a lie running for my life
I will always want you

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me
Yeah, you wreck me

I put you high up in the sky
And now, you're not coming down
Oh, and it slowly turned, you let me burn
And now, we're ashes on the ground

But don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you
I can't live a lie, running for my life
I will always love you

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me
I came in like a wrecking ball
Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung
Left me crashing in a blazing fall
All you ever did was wreck me
Yeah, you wrecked me

I never meant to start a war (I never meant to start a war)
I just wanted you to let me in (let me in)
And instead of using force ('sing force)
I guess I should've let you win
I never meant to start a war (never meant to start a war)
I just wanted you to let me in (I just wanted you to let me in)
I guess I should've let you win (guess I should've let you win)

Don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always love you

I came in like a wrecking ball

All I wanted was to break your walls

I came in like a- (oh-ohh, love you)

(I Cant Get No) Satisfaction

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
But I try and I try and I try and I try
But I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm drivin' in my car
And the man comes on the radio
He's tellin' me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination

Oh, I can't get no
Oh, no, no, no
Ah-hey, hey, hey
That's what I say

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
But I try and I try and I try and I try
But I can't get no (I can't get no)
Oh, I can't get no (I can't get no)

When I'm watchin' my TV
And a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
But he's got no right to preachin' me
'Bout who I am and I'm supposed to me

I can't get no
No, no, no
Ah-hey, hey, hey
That's what I say

Listen, I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no man reaction
And I try, I try and I try, oh, yes, I try
But I can't get no
But I can't get no (no)

When I'm ridin' around the world
'Cause I'm doin' this and I'm signin' that
And I'm tryin' to make some boy
Who tells me, "Baby, better come back maybe next week"
Can't you see I'm on a losing streak?

Oh, I can't get no
Oh, no, no, no
Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say

(Hey) I can't get no (no, no)
I can't get no (I can't get no)

Keep on Loving You

You should have seen by the look in my eyes, baby
There was something missin'
Should have known by the tone of my voice, maybe
But you didn't listen
You played dead but you never bled
Instead, you laid still in the grass
All coiled up and hissin'

Though I know all about those women
Still, I don't remember
('Cause it was us) it was us
(Baby, way before them) way before them
(And we're still together) we're still together

And I meant every word I said
When I said that I loved you
I meant that I love you forever

And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you
'Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep
(Baby) I just wanna keep on lovin' you
Keep on lovin' you, babe

I just wanna keep on lovin' you, baby

(And I meant) I meant (every word) every word (I said)
When I said that I love you
I meant that I love you forever
Love you forever

And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you
'Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep (I don't wanna sleep)
I just wanna (I wanna) keep on lovin' you

Baby, I'm gonna keep on lovin' you

Heart of Glass

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out, had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind

Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
Seemed like the real thing but I was so blind
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind

In between
What I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine
Love is so confusing there's no peace of mind
If I fear I'm losing you it's just no good
You teasing like you do

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out, had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind

Lost inside
Adorable illusion and I cannot hide
I'm the one you're using, please, don't push me aside
Could've made it cruising, yeah

Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light
True love
True love
True love
True love

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out, had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind

Dont Let The Sun Go Down On Me

I can't light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I'm growing tired, and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life

It's too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Don't let the sun go down on me (don't let the sun)
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I just allow a fragment of your life to wander free, oh
Oh, but losing everything is like the sun going down on me

I can't find, oh, the right romantic line
But see me once and see the way I feel
Oh, don't discard me just because you think I mean you harm
But these cuts I have, oh, they need love to help them heal, oh-oh

Don't let the sun go down on me
(Don't let the sun)
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I just allow a fragment of your life to wander free (to wander free)
Oh, yeah (oh, yeah)
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

Don't let the sun (don't), don't let the sun (no)
Don't let the sun go down
(Don't let the sun) don't let the sun (go down on me)
(Don't let the sun)
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see

Tried To Rock And Roll Me

(Yeah) yeah

You tried to rock and roll me
You say you wanna show me what true romance is
But, mister, you don't know me
I don't fall for flattery and come on's like this

You think you can impress me
With sexy lines of finest wine and designer clothes
You're trying to undress me
With shifty roaming eyes that seem to sparkle and glow

You're arrogant, conceded, and vain
(Baby, I'm not playing this game)

You tried to rock and roll me (yea-yeah)
Like all the rest, I guess you think I'm on the make
(You think you can control me)
(Your mesmerizing eyes are holding me in your gaze)

Don't want to waste time
Pretending I believe a single word that you say
(Believe me I know your kind, yeah)
(You claim the night) you strike, and then you just walk away

You come in like a Hollywood star
(But I can see right through who you are)

You tried to rock and roll me
But, baby, I'm just looking for a good hearted man
The one that's gonna show me
More than an artificial tan and love on demand
(Hey, hey) hey
Hey, hey, hey

Hey, Romeo, there's something you're just gonna have to accept
(You ain't all that, you just need to get over yourself)
And then maybe

You can rock and roll me
Trust me, I ain't too bad a lover myself
(Maybe you can show me) show me
(All the magic you've been saying I've never felt)
I'm not gonna pretend
I'm not impressed with your good looks 'cause, baby, you're hot
(But beauty's only skin deep)
So why don't you show me that's not all that you've got

(Try to rock and roll me, yeah) oh, you try to rock and roll me
(You try to rock and roll me, yeah, yeah, yeah) oh, you try to rock and roll me
(Come on, come on) yeah
Can rock me, baby, rock me, baby, get too my soul
Rock me, baby, rock me, let's rock and roll
(Come on, Dolly, let's rock)
I'm still rockin' it, Melissa

Stairway To Heaven

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows if the stores are all closed,
With a word she can get what she came for
Ooh, a stairway to heaven
There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings
In a tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
Oh-oh, makes me wonder. I wonder; I really, really wonder
There's a feelin' I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leavin'
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand lookin'
Ooh.
It's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason,
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter
Oh-oh-oh-oh, Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow don't be alarmed now.
It's just a spring clean for the May queen
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still some time to change the road you're on
Oh, it makes me wonder
Your head is hummin' and it won't go in case you don't know,
The piper's callin' you to join him
Oh, can you hear the wind blow
And did you know your stairway lies upon the whisperin' wind
Stairway to heaven, stairway to heaven
You can't buy it, you can't borrow
You've got to walk it straight and narrow
Stairway to heaven, stairway to heaven, stairway to heaven
And as we walk on down the road
Our shadows longer than our souls,
All that glitters is not gold
Wanna be a rock and not a roll
Oh, the great almighty dollar leaves you lonely, lost and hollow
You can't fool yourself forever
You gotta work to get to heaven
Stairway to heaven.
If we listen and hold fast
To every question that we asked
The truth will come to us at last
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

We Will Rock You

I've paid my dues, time after time
I've done my sentence but committed no crime
And bad mistakes, I've made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face
But I've come through (and I mean to go on and on and on and on)

We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end
We are the champions, we are the champions
No time for losers 'cause we are the champions
Of the world

I've taken my bows and my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it
And I thank you all
But it's been no bed of roses, no pleasure cruise
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race
And I ain't gonna lose (and I mean to go on and on and on and on)

We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end
We are the champions, we are the champions
No time for losers 'cause we are the champions
We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end
We are the champions, we are the champions
No time for losers 'cause we are the champions

(We will, we will rock you) we will rock you
(We will, we will rock you) we will rock you
(We will, we will rock you) we are the champions
(We will, we will rock you) yes, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you

Bygones

Can you forgive me?
It's true I've made mistakes but so have you
It's just so unfair

The way you hurt me
Cuts so deep, I don't think I can heal
You just leave me bare

When you break a trust, it's painful
To find the one you love's no angel
When respect is gone, the biggest part of love goes too

I'm sorry, so sorry
How long must you punish me?
Why can't we just move on?
Let bygones be bygones
But you never will

What's the difference
If this time I'm the one that did the wrong?
Should it matter?

Makin' reference to promises made and broken, you just left
Left me cold as stone

When you break a trust, it's painful
To find the one you love's no angel
When respect is gone, the biggest part of love goes too

I'm sorry, so sorry
How long must you punish me?
Why can't we just move on?
Let bygones be bygones
But you never will

I'm sorry, so sorry
Full of regret
Forgive and forget
I'm sorry, so sorry
You haven't yet
But tell me
Where do we go from here?

I'm sorry, so sorry
How long must you punish me?
Why can't we just move on?
Let bygones be bygones
By God, I'm gone

I'm sorry, so sorry
Truly, I am
How long must you punish me?
Just put it down

Why can't we just move on
Just turn it around
Let bygones be bygones

But you never
You never
Could you ever?
Could you ever?
Would you ever?
Would you ever?
No, you never will

My Blue Tears

Fly away from my window little blue bird
Fly as far as you can away from here
And let not your song fall upon my ear
Go spread your blue wings and I'll shed my blue tears

For the one that I have loved he has left me and gone
And I'm in no mood for to hear your sad song

And bring not your light into my dark room, yellow sunshine
Waste not your warmth on the cold glisten here
Oh, trouble me not
Go ye elsewhere
Go light your blue sky and I'll shed my blue tears

For the only one that I have ever loved has gone away
And I'm in no mood for the sunshine today

‘cause I don't know when or if ever again
I will see his sweet face but I fear
It's forever goodbye though I can't say why
But I'll sit here and cry my lonely blue tears

Go spread your blue wings light your blue sky
I'll shed my blue tears
My blue tears
My blue tears

Whats Up

All of these years and my life is still
Just tryin' to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes when I'm lyin' in bed
Just to get it all out, what's in my head
And I, I'm feelin' a little peculiar
And so I wake up in the mornin' and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs, "What's goin' on?"

And then I say, "Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey, yeah, yeah"
I say, "Hey
What's goin' on?"
Then I say, "Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey, yeah, yeah"
I say, "Hey
What's goin' on?"

And I try
Oh my God, do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray
Oh my God, do I pray
I pray every single day
For a resolution

And so I cry sometimes when I'm lyin' in bed
Just to get it all out, what's in my head
And I, I'm feelin' a little peculiar
And so I wake up in the mornin' and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs, "What's goin' on?"

And then I say, "Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey, yeah, yeah"
I say, "Hey

Then I say, "Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey, yeah, yeah"
I say, "Hey
What's goin' on?"

Hey, yeah, yeah"
I say, "Hey
What's goin' on?"
Then I say, "Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah" (Oh, no, no, no, no, no)
"Hey, yeah, yeah" (Hey, yeah, yeah)
I say, "Hey
What's goin' on?"

Youre No Good

[ Originally by Linda Ronstadt ]

Feeling better now that we're through
Feeling better 'cause I'm over you
I learned my lesson, it left a scar
Now I see how you really are

You're no good, you're no good, you're no good
Baby, you're no good
I'm gonna say it again
You're no good, you're no good, you're no good
Baby, you're no good

I broke a heart that's gentle and true
I broke a heart over someone like you
I'll beg his forgiveness on bended knee
I wouldn't blame him if he said to me

You're no good, you're no good, you're no good
Baby, you're no good
I'm gonna say it again
You're no good, you're no good, you're no good
Baby, you're no good

I broke a heart that was gentle and true
I broke a heart over someone like you

I'm telling you now, baby, and I'm goin' my way
Forget about you, baby, 'cause I'm leaving to stay

You're no good, you're no good, you're no good
Baby, you're no good
I'm gonna say it again
You're no good, you're no good, you're no good

Heartbreaker

Here I sit all alone, thinkin' 'bout what I should have known
You made me think that I could need you
You weaved your magic spell and I believed you
Lookin back on you and me, promises that will never be
I truly thought we were lovers
But now I find that I'm just like all the others
Heartbreaker, wish that I had seen that love was blind
Sweet little love maker, takin my heart and leave me behind
Heartbreaker couldn't you be
Just a little more kind to me

Played with fire, felt its burn
I would have thought that I would have learned
I melted every time you kissed me
Every time you'd leave I thought that you would miss me

Heartbreaker, wish that I had seen that love was blind
Sweet little love maker, takin' my heart and leave me behind
Heartbreaker couldn't you be
Just a little more kind to me

Bittersweet

Is it time to say hello or say goodbye?
Couldn't count the countless times that we have tried
Do we try to try again or take defeat?
Either way, it's bittersweet

(We love each other, there's no question there)
No question there
(But hate each other when we don't fight fair)
We don't fight fair
(Lately there's more hating as our world shakes 'neath our feet)
To say the least, it's bittersweet

All the things we loved each other for at first, we now despise
(The passion and the tenderness now fade before our eyes)
We've tested all the waters, but have we gone too deep?
To say the least, it's bittersweet

Bittersweet, bittersweet
Separate the chaff from wheat
Is our love now obsolete?
Oh-oh, it's bittersweet
(There's more bitterness than sweetness)
(In the words that we now speak)
(Oh-oh, it's bittersweet) ooh, it's bittersweet

Is it time to say hello or say goodbye?
Oil and water, venom, honey, dark and light
(Is it time to say hello or say goodbye?)
(We're oil and water, venom, honey, dark and light)

Deep devotion (deep devotion), mixed emotion (mixed emotion)
A painful mix, indeed, (a painful mix, indeed)
(To say the least, it's bittersweet) it's bittersweet
Bittersweet, bittersweet

Standing on the edge now, do we go or stay?
Do we go? Do we stay?
(Will we live to regret it) will we
(If we just walk away?) If we just walk away?
It's a painful hard decision, but it's one that we must make

(Bittersweet)
(So bittersweet) it's bittersweet
(Bittersweet) oh, oh, it's bittersweet
(Oh, oh, bittersweet)

I Dreamed About Elvis

Last night, I dreamed of Elvis, he was standing in the light
Looking radiant and beautiful, just like he did in life
I said, "E, it's good to see you, look so healthy and at peace"
He said, (You know, I'm really happy here, how's things in Tennessee?)

Well, I told him we all missed him, that the whole world loved the King
He said (You know, if things were different, I'd ask you to wear my ring)
I said, "El, ah, can I call you El?"
(Ah, Elvis, El, or E)
I said, "Am I just dreamin', or were you just flirtin' with me?"
(Uh-huh-huh)

Whoa-ho, I dreamed about Elvis, dreamed about Elvis
Dreamed about Elvis last night
We sang "Don't Be Cruel" and "All Shook Up"
"Heartbreak Hotel" and "That's Alright"
"Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear" and "Blue Hawaii" too
"Jailhouse Rock" and "Viva Las Vegas"
"Kentucky Moon of Blue" (Blue Moon of Kentucky)
(Shiloh)

Then he curled his lip and said
(You know, you remind me a little of Monroe)
"Oh," and I said, "Really? Marilyn?" And he said
(No, Bill)
"Bill, the King of Bluegrass?" (uh-huh-huh)

I dreamed about Elvis, dreamed about Elvis
Dreamed about Elvis last night (uh-huh-huh)
I dreamed about Elvis, dreamed about Elvis
Dreamed about Elvis last night (oh, oh yeah)
And the dream went on
And I dreamed I said in real life, "You sang so many songs
And I always thought I'd like to hear you sing one of my own"
He said, (I almost did one of yours, the one about true love)
(The 'I Will Always Love You' song, but the Colonel screwed that up)

Well, he sure did, but after all, this is my dream
It would be a dream come true if maybe, you could sing it now
And let me sing with you, and we sang
(I will always love you, I will always love you)

(I hope life) I hope life
(Treats you kind) will treat you kind
(And I hope) I hope
You have all that you've dreamed of
(I wish you joy) I wish you joy
(And happiness) and happiness
But above all this, (I wish you love) I wish you love
And I will always love you, I will always love you
Oh, then I woke up

I dreamed about Elvis, dreamed about Elvis
Dreamed about Elvis last night
We sang "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Love me Tender"
"Burnin' Love", "Are You Lonesome Tonight"
Dreamed about Elvis, dreamed about Elvis
Dreamed about Elvis last night (uh-huh-huh)
I dreamed about Elvis, dreamed about Elvis
Then he faded into the light

Let It Be

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be

Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be
For though they may be parted
There is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be (let it be), let it be (let it be)
Let it be (let it be), let it be (oh, let it be)
Yeah, there will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be (let it be), let it be (let it be)
Let it be (let it be), let it be (ooh)
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

Let it be (let it be), let it be (let it be)
Let it be, yeah (let it be), let it be (woah, woah, woah, yeah)
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow
Let it be
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be (let it be)

Oh, let it be (let it be), let it be (let it be)
Let it be, yeah (let it be), let it be (let it be)
'Cause there will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be (let it be), let it be (let it be)
Let it be (oh, let it be), just let it be (wont you let it be)
There will be an answer
Let it be, let it be

Let it be (let it be), let it be
Just let it be (oh, won't you just let it be), let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

There will be an answer
Let it be (let it be, let it be)

For I must be traveling on now
'Cause there's too many places I've gotta see

But if I stayed here with you, boy
Things just couldn't be the same
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows I can't change

Bye, bye, baby, it's been a sweet love, yeah
Though this feeling I can't change
But please don't take it so badly
'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame

If I stay here with you, boy
Things just couldn't be the same
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change
And the bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can't change
Lord, help me, I can't change

(Lord) Lord, I can't change
(Won't you fly high, free bird, yeah?)

Hey, watch me fly, watch me fly
How free am I? How free am I?

I'ma free bird
High, high, fly, fly
Spread my wings and touch the sky (free bird)
'Cause I'm a free bird
I'm a free bird (free bird)

Free birds

Hey, fly, hey
Free bird, free bird, free bird, won't you fly, fly
Won't you fly
Spread your wings, free bird, and fly
