Billy waited at the store front
Determination in his eyes
8 years old and in a wheelchair
His Mother standing at his side
He had her bring him to see Santa
A note he'd written in his hand
She wheeled him up to Mr. Kringle
The youngster spoke just like a man
He said Santa here's my wish list
And it only has one thing
I'm really hoping you can help me
With this most important gift to bring
I want Daddy home for Christmas
In time for us to light the tree
There's no Christmas cheer at my house
With just Momma and me
You see my Daddy's in a coma
And has been now for 3 long days
So what I really want for Christmas
Is for my Daddy to awake
He drives long hours in a Semi
Does mechanic's work at night
Day and night a savin' money
Toward a power chair for me to drive
But his rig blew a tire on Mt. Eagle
With a load of ties on the way down
They say he dodged a bus of children
To go off the bank that he went down
Now me and Momma sit there waiting
Hoping he will come around
So I said a prayer and wrote this letter
When I heard you were here in town
I want Daddy home for Christmas
In time for us to light the tree
There's no Christmas cheer at my house
With just Momma and me
Santa looked up at the gold Cross
Shining high atop the tree
He said my friend's in charge of these things
Let's say a prayer you and me
When they were done the old elf hugged him
And said Son hold on to hope and faith
Christmas miracles can happen
If you know he is the way
Billy waved good-bye to Santa
As his Mother took a call
The nurse said Your husband just awoke dear
And he's asking for you all
As she fell straight down a cryin'
Billy whispered in her ear
I just knew Jesus would listen
To a Saint Nick Christmas Prayer
We'll have Daddy home for Christmas
In time for us to light the tree
It'll be a real Christmas now at our house
With Daddy Momma and me
