Our 20-20 vision is locked in isolation
All of this year's dreams, in quarantine
As we're told to hide away
The supermarket shelves stripped bare
Folks fighting over what's left there
All worried that they just won't get their share
Social distancing must be observed
And we scrub our hands to flatten curves
Academics on pandemics
Have replaced the evening news
Clubs and pubs and church doors locked
Welfare lines around the block
But the light of human kindness has begun to shine the way
After the fire, after the flood, after the plague that fills our lungs
There is another day to come, we will go on
After the rules that kept us bound, there is a freedom to be found
There is another day to come, we will go on
After the fear based isolation, we will rise across the nation
There is another day to come, we will go on
We will hug again, we will love again
We will stand there with our friends and we will laugh again
Hand in hand again, right until the end
We are stronger than we know, we are stronger than we know, we will go on
The lesson from this season, is to reassess the reasons
And things we truly value in our lives
The joy of talking face to face, a hug or handshake from our mates
To reconnect and feel a warm embrace
The freedoms that we took for granted, the wonders of a world enchanted
We'd rush past, on our way to make a life
So when all the doors again reopen, this one thing I put my hope in
That we hold to what's important in our lives
