Walls of stillness
Crept upon the sea
Creasing sheets of breezes
To chill so suddenly
I had slept but for an hour
Seemed t'was such an age
Wondering how upon me waking
The weather jumped a page
And all the birds had all flown away
To spin and reel for a warmer day
And all the boats they just sat quite still
They were whispering in their blindness
All in the bay
Giant gulls flew to roost
Amidst the haze to find
That all around sails hung loose
In the doldrums left behind
How you mould the mixture blue
And moist the iced sea air
And glaze the sun so softly
To sift its glowing glare
And all the birds had all flown away
To spin and reel for a warmer day
And all the boats they just sat quite still
They were whispering in their blindness
All in the bay
Empty beauty so serene
From the ocean to land
Enveloping a stillness
Like a mill pond to the sand
Still there to feel and touch
So close within my reach
To reconnect and see so much
In a sea fog on the beach
In a sea fog on the beach
And all the birds had all flown away
To spin and reel for a warmer day
And all the boats they just sat quite still
They were whispering in their blindness
All in the bay
