Take some time to breathe
So that you know how it feels
Simply to be breathing
On the earth
Every lungful of air is its own universe
Of possibility, a miraculous dream, waiting to be
Close your eyes and let silence befriend your disguise
Smile at the absurd times
Hold your breath
And you can stop the clock from its relentless march
To the waiting dark
Of the sands
As you exhale, your breath fills the sails
Of such a fragile boat
That can barely float on the waves
Which will hurl it and toss it across the divide
Seeking the further side
On a distant shore
Everyone you have ever loved is patiently waiting,
Chatting and smiling
Round the fire
In the darkening sky
Everyone has an eye on the horizon watching for your white sail
And the flames of the fire are a beacon
A blessing for those crossing the rolling sea
