Damien Rice - The Blowers Daughter Lyrics

Damien Rice Lyrics

The Blowers Daughter Lyrics
And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?

I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...
My mind...my mind...
'Til I find somebody new

The Blowers Daughter Info:

• Blower is actually referring to the telephone. In the UK, the precursor to the telephone was the speaking tube, which was a tube stoppered with whistles at both ends. To call the person on the other end, you would remove the stopper and blow into the tube, which would whistle for your party. When the telephone was invented, many in Britain continued referring to it as a "blower."

• The song is reportedly about an incident Damien experienced while a telemarketer. He struck up a relationship with a woman over the phone while on the job. When she stopped returning his calls, he tracked her down only to find out it was just a 16 year old girl killing time for her own amusement.

• The song was featured in the trailer for the 2004 Mike Nichols film "Closer", as well as in the film itself

• This was his first single off the album "O", which is dedicated to Rice's friend Mic Christopher, who died of a head injury in 2001.
