Though there was land and sea and air
It was unstable land, unswimmable sea, and air needing light
Nothing retained its shape
One thing obstructed another
Because in the one body
Cold fought with heat
Moist with dry
Soft with hard
And weight with weightless things
Fleshy pink legs disturb the sand as you scuttle upwards
Salt churning in your eyes
Where are those legs of yours taking you
Overhead, a new light appears
And you crawl forth in search of what waits above
The comforting hiss swells
You hear a roar and the light is blinding
Quiet now, quiet
You have emerged into the strange light
Salt crusts down your legs
And you feel the give of your own weight
Black air
Hot sun
Quiet air
Black sun
The waves are back before you notice
You feel your legs pull from under you and you are sucked back
Violent and weightless, you are sucked back into the darkening sea
