Cody Matthew Johnson & Andrew Smithers - Biohazard Lyrics

Cody Matthew Johnson & Andrew Smithers - Biohazard Lyrics

"Nine innocents gunned down in Charleston church"
Some news anchor lurches at my screen before taking me to the scene of the crime
This obscene display in a house of God douses my hopeful embers
For the remaining members of humanity in a nod to the abysmal ravine
Between religious and racial relations
Workplace conversations thrown in my face for days afterward
About how that bastard deserves to be incapacitated, mutilated, castrated...
How these outdated gun laws should be obliterated
As has been stated by irate patron saints for decades
Or how instead they wouldn't be dead if each door had forty-four war-hardened guards Armed to the teeth with both Kevlar and AR-15s

"Climate change is a myth!"
Even though the shift of adrift icecaps is happening before our very eyes
Along with a visible rise in the tides, these are just lies devised by the Chinese, right?
There's no evidence, certainly no reticence from organizations warning of themes
Like those prevalent in genesis like being battered by the elements
"You don't recycle? You're the reason the Earth is dying!" - or
"You drive a Hybrid? You bought into the government's lying?"

Meanwhile, science is crying in a box, vying for our attention
While we pick sides based around our retention of meteorology and conspiracy
"And here we see an officer acquitted in the shooting of an unarmed black father"
And I'm so bothered by how our forefathers swore that there'd be no more blood
And gore at the hands of despots, but respite seems far of fantasy in this land you see
Their hands grab more quickly for a gun than their cuffs
Stuffing roughly whole magazines into the backs of black teens

Scandals, vandalism, money changing hands
People calling for the man to be impeached along with his stand-in
So people reach for their picket signs and preach on social media
Before taking to the streets to beat their feet against the concrete steps of Capitol Hill
As they should

Sadly, this is a nation inflated by tragedy
Where Columbines are a dime a dozen and date rapists are un-caged after 31 days
Hell, in the two days it took to place these hateful disgraces to paper, another church Was "purged" by the curse of gun violence
Meanwhile, I've already forgotten what state it was in
Because we forget to stave away the grave reality of our situation
We rally and cry and the rally dies before we can even move forward
