Cabaret Diosa Lyrics
Club Cabaret Lyrics
Club Cabaret was largely a band effort. Arturo came in with a few horn lines around which the song was constructed. The lyrics were inspired by a Milton's Paradise Lost, and the idea of Satan as an angel whose ego and creative drive made it impossible for him to play the role of a subordinate. "'Tis better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven." However, the voice could also be of a vanquished lover, or a political prisoner. Where is Club Cabaret? Perhaps its a secret club down on the water front, decorated with Christmas lights, perhaps it's a state of mind, perhaps a dream world that exists on another astral plane where two lovers can finally meet one last time.
A dance on a firery sea, the edge of eternity
For chance that I'm somehow free
The earth long ago lost to me.
Maybe you go down to the club to here some Mambo.
Maybe you dance away the troubles and the rain.
Or you can dream of ocean waves as we Samba.
The lights are lovely down at Cabaret.
If you look, you'll find me I will be,
With a rose and salt tear martini,
In the echoed corners of your dreams,
I am waiting darling come to me!
A laugh, a desert rain in June
Your hand reaches me on the moon.
Photograph fades from the light
Dream of stars and remember the night.
We used to go down to the club to hear some Mambo
We used to dance away our troubles and the rain.
Now we can dream of ocean waves as we Samba.
The lights are lovely at Club Cabaret.
If you look you'll find me I will be
With a rose and salt tear Martini
In the echoed corners of your dreams
I am waiting darling come to me!
