Deep in the Florida Everglades
Where the mangrove grows
Lived a manatee named Melvin
With a mustache under his nose
Now Melvin was all round and slow
But for what he lacked physically
He made up for with his mustache
Which was groomed exquisitely
Melvin was a happy manatee
And the lily pads were his home
He had everything he needed
As long as he had his mustache comb
Then Fred the Flamenco flew on by
With a messy tuft of hair
He said, "Melvin, my manatee mate, do you have a comb that you could share?"
Now Melvin loved his mustache comb, and he did not want to give it away
So he told Fred, "My dear friend, I cannot find my favorite comb today."
Now Fred thought that was odd, and something didn't seem quite right
So he shrugged and shook his scruffy tufts and continued on his flight
Then Gary the Grumpy Gator was grumbling under his bearded breath
If only I had a comb to straighten out this beardy mess
But Melvin loved his mustache comb, and he did not want it gone
So he hid the comb from Gary and let him swim along
Then up swam Sally the Salamander with her luxurious locks in knots
She said, "If only I had a comb well it sure would help me lots."
But Melvin loved his mustached comb, and if it were gone he would be scared
He thought it better to tell a little fib than lose his comb if he shared
And when all of them had left, Melvin sat there with his comb
And he started to get sad, because he was all along
So he found Fred the Flamenco, and he tousled up his tufts
And he took Gary the Grumpy Gator and straightened up his beardy scruffs
He found Sally the Salamander and tamed her wild flowy strands
And everyone was happy and dapper, and had a party in the sands
And they all had mangrove salads, their plates all green and lush
And after they munched a scrumptious lunch
Melvin gave his mustache one last brush
