She reads her lines but never in between
She wins the loser's game
Just like a TV sitcom character
Or viewer of the same
Perhaps she has no sense of irony
Perhaps she doesn't try
She wishes it was 1983
I can't imagine why
She watches movies on a silver screen
They teach her how to feel
It's not the life that she's accustomed to
Somehow it's much more real
She's cutting pictures out of magazines
Of girls she'd rather be
She stuffs them in manila envelopes
That no one else will see
