At night when he comes in
She says that the food's in the kitchen
He grabs a plate
And he eats by himself
Just another day
Where they act like nothing's wrong
He cleans his plate
And then he moves along
Nights she stays awake
The lights a dim dull
She just stares at the wall
Wondering where she went wrong
There's nothing that they can say
That they haven't said before
They still look the same
But they're not kids anymore
At night when he lays down
She says shut the light off
She gets back up and goes down the hall
Laying alone in their bed
He's someone that he don't know
She'd leave if she could
If she had anywhere to go
Nights she stays awake
The lights a dim dull
She just stares at the wall
Wondering where she went wrong
There's nothing that they can say
That they haven't said before
They still look the same
But they're not kids anymore
