Somewhere out there
Past the asphalt glare
Lies miles of a new horizon
Those city streets
Have got to beat
This town that there's no surprise in
I've given the wrong impression
Dotted my Ts and mixed metaphors
Everywhere I go
There's one thing I know
Gotta find something worth fighting for
Someday I'll make my way
To parts where I can say
I feel like I belong here
I think I'm gonna stay
I'll roam each new district
To see what makes them tick
I'll ride the subway crosstown
And race across the bricks
And late at night
It's kinda trite
But I hear the two A.M. train
Reminding me
Where I could be
Like anywhere not quite so plain
I've been careless on occasion
Let go of a fair few red balloons
Gotten out of line
Every single time
I get up again before too soon
Someday I'll make my way
To parts where I can say
I feel like I belong here
I think I'm gonna stay
I've got way too many dreams
But they're only building steam
And when I watch the sky
There's a feeling deep inside of me
I'll never say die
That's no way to be
I took a walk
Just down the block
Sat gazing at power towers
I'll find a way
Can't spend my days
Waiting for my finest hour
I've gone bobbing for bad apples
I've ditched out on dates and danced alone
Tried life on for size
Maybe I'll get wise
When I have a place that feels like home
Someday I'll make my way
To parts where I can say
I feel like I belong here
I think I'm gonna stay
I'll roam each new district
To see what makes them tick
I'll ride the subway crosstown
And race across the bricks
Someday I'll make my way
To parts where I can say
I feel like I belong here
I think I'm gonna stay
