Why in my mind
Without my friend
Bowhead and me
Sailing through the stars
Did you ever look up to the sky and wonder
Just how far that shooting star had been
How many millions of asteroids had come and gone
And while you stood in awe and watched
It's light fading away
The pictures jumped inside your brain
Why in my mind
Without my friend
Bowhead and me
Sailing through the stars
To everyone else you seemed lost
But in reality you were just hiding
In a much safer location
That day he fell away from you
The real world became dull
The blacks and grey's were all that were left
Playful technicolour had all but gone
Trying to find your friend
In your mind you'd replaced him with a whale
Like a protective older brother
You would share adventures together
Sitting atop the bowhead
Sailing through the stars
Why in my mind
Without my friend
Bowhead and me
Sailing through the stars
And while you seemed happier
You were no longer ours
The day you lost him
We also lost you
The only way you can cope
Is by exploring with bowhead
In the big starry dark blue
