They've got cell phones, they've got laptops
They think it all comes free
The kids today drive the superhighway
But hitch their rides with me
I remember youth and splendor, it wasn't long ago
I smile at them while they laugh at me
Cos' I know what they think they know
As I get older the less they listen
But I've got more to say
They roll their eyes, they say "whatever"
Then turn and walk away
I've paid my dues, I've had some hard times
Sometimes my luck was low
Now I've been told my words aren't welcome
But I know what they think they know
I don't pretend to know everything
I still have to learn as I go
But when I see them stumble I've got to say
I told you so.....so......so......so....
I've got a cell phone, I've got a laptop
I think I'm doing fine
But in the eyes of this generation
I'm still way behind
Today I hurried by an old man
Too busy for "hellos"
I heard him say when I rushed by
"I know what he thinks he knows"
