Jenny and Mary were the best of friends
Every day they were together
Living in a world of make believe
And running in the fields
Together they would look to see
Pictures in the sky
Then they'd both imagine they could fly
Jenny shared her secrets, Mary shared her dreams
Sometimes if they'd have a fight
Mary would always cry
But then they'd make up and make believe
Pirates had caught them at see
Then Jenny and Mary would break free
One day Jenny heard the news
Mary couldn't stay
Her daddy had another job
The family had to move away
And Jenny went running to the fields outside
This time, Jenny was the one who cried
Jenny watched as the car drove off
Mary looked back out the window
Suddenly Mary shouted back
"I'll always remember you, Jenny!"
Jenny watched the years go by
Time brought other friends
She learned to play at older games
She stopped running in the fields
But now sometimes she still watches
For pictures in the sky
Sometimes she'll see Mary drifting by
And she'll say, "I'll always remember you, Mary."
