Dissatisfied and sad, surrounded by the fads-
Faking happiness, I walk along and sing a song.
"Run away", I say every day
And mindlessly chase the wind from place to place.
Glancing back on this road, I curse my free time.
Enemies surround. Fighting back now would lead to ONE GAME.
"There are mountains, valleys, and cliffs in this life."
Garbage piles up outside.
This journey seems unending now.
Stopping right outside a town,
I'm relieved I've found a place where I can softly put my legs down.
Yet, when I lay down to rest,
It always seems that I enter that repeating state of shallow sleep.
Night after night, I see that face again.
Night after night, I hear that phrase again:
"Doesn't anyone think just being alive is lonely?"
It cries through the darkness as tobacco smoke goes higher.
Its clouds floating skyward
And, one by one, they fade away into the night
Till every trace of them vanishes from sight.
The timing could not have been worse because, on a day when we felt young and weak,
Your once innocent eyes beheld a sadness the likes of which you weren't meant to see.
Trying to pass the time, you hold back your tears though you know you should cry.
We're too weak to live by just what's real,
So we don't have to be strong this time, alright?
And, when I opened up my eyes,
It was suddenly springtime,
So I fight against the cherry blossom colored wind that passes by.
As you ran to the far off side,
I wonder if you're in this field of flowers or already left it behind.
As my eyes check the sky
And I attempt to find the untainted whiteness of birds flying around,
I can bet that you were looking down
And searching for the black footprints of ants
While tracking every single sound that came from the ground.
Your mask resembles a clown's.
You took it off while standing on a hill that seemed
To be forsaken by the morning sun's beams.
One night, as I basked in the cold moonlight, I breathed deeply, then I exhaled
And thought of a world where no one heard
The sounds of voices yelling or breaking plates.
If we had to live our lives without warmth, I know that we'd somehow get by.
However, we know we're meant for more, so it's not enough to just be alive.
The budding earth around us,
The broadness of the tree trunks,
The rainbow's disappearance,
The days that pass right by us,
The star we know as Spica,
The wonders of the seasons.
They all exist to teach us what we know today
As we continue to search for our own way.
No matter how far we stray or travel, all our lives began in the same place:
We enter this world as lonely babies, wanting life and the warmth of love's embrace.
The reason we search and aim for someplace that's far away from where we are
Is because it's the only way we'll learn that the one place to find answers is in our hearts.
