birdcries - a poem about you Lyrics

You are a sunset picnic, sipping cherry wine from holy grail
Petals halt to watch the breeze blowing through your ponytail
I am but an endless ocean far away from rolling vales
But if you journeyed over me, I'd hope to see you slow your sails
Long enough to quell the waves, maybe yawn and rest a while
'Til dawn is but a breath away from pausing your sequestered smile
And autumn soon arrives, shaping lips into a crescent shining
Brighter than its namesake or any poets deftly rhyming
Ever-trying any kind of meter to compare
Or even measure slightly to the shine that's gleaming off your hair
It's my reading light; it keeps me typing well into the evening time
With fleeting sights of leaves that glide as freely as you treat this life
Winters long discarded are a flicker in the starry sky
When, fitted with Doc Martens, darting quickly through the park as I
Am sitting on a log, carving tributes to my heart's delight
Only looking up to see your smile eclipse the darkened sky
We're partners, crime a given but it's harmless, swiping listens
From the robin's chiming whistle, stealing sonnets from the rhythm
Waiting til I'm nearly finished just so you can alter lines
And sketch a new beginning somewhere off into the margin sides
