Woke up in the morning
Head on fire
My stomach churning
Last night I said something that I regret
And dove headfirst into the deep end
Of the feeling
That everyone went home
And talked about
The shit that came out of my mouth
And I was something less than so enchanting
Truth is we're all the center
Of our own curious adventure
We build pedestals and prisons
Out of our own existence
Extinguish your fires
The world becomes kinder
And no one cares to hold you to
The vicious standard
You created
Inundated with your youth
My brittle head's been burning
I guess this is unlearning
All the fury, all the fire
With each passing day
I'm more afraid
Of my body aging
We only get one shot
And think there's a bullseye
Really there's nothing to hit
But the blue sky
You'll never miss out
On what's meant for you
If it makes you happy
Let it guide the way
There's no right or wrong path
Just the one you take
We all end up
In the same place
Chasing a god or a dream
Or a love or a fate
When the end comes
Don't be afraid
My brittle head's been burning
I guess this is unlearning
All the fury, all the fire
And if your life amounts to nothing more
Than life itself
Well I'd call that a life well spent
You don't have to build an empire
The best is yet to come
A golden age has just begun
