Billy Idol - Rebel Yell Lyrics

Rebel Yell

Last night a little dancer came dancin' to my door
Last night a little angel Came pumpin cross my floor
She said "Come on baby I got a licence for love
And if it expires pray help from above"

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell- "more, more, more"

She don't like slavery, she won't sit and beg
But when I'm tired and lonely she sees me to bed
What set you free and brought you to be me babe
What set you free I need you hear by me
Because

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell- "more, more, more"

He lives in his own heaven
Collects it to go from the seven eleven
Well he's out all night to collect a fare
Just so long, just so long it don't mess up his hair.

I walked the ward with you, babe
A thousand miles with you
I dried your tears of pain, babe
A million times for you

I'd sell my soul for you babe
For money to burn with you
I'd give you all, and have none, babe
Just, just, justa, justa to have you here by me
Because

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried "more, more, more"

Oh yeah little baby
she want more

Oh yeah little baby
she want more

Daytime Drama

Day by day
Hour by hour
What haunts my nighttime
Sharts my daylight
Even good friends
Have no answers
Beautiful stars
You don't want a hard patch
Just a few facts
It's use and abuse
You'd write your story
As work for playtime
Time for love
My beautiful stars
Beautiful stars

Don't touch her man
I want her over and over again
Don't touch her man
I want her over and over again

Beautiful stars
In my daytime drama
When I ask the questions
War and answers
See you dancing
Romancing what I want
My beautiful star
Beautiful star

Don't touch her man
I want her over and over again
Don't touch her man
I want her over and over and over and over

Beautiful star
Of my daytime drama
Yes it's in my hand now
You're my hope for a future
Beautiful star
Of my daytime drama
Love to win a boy
You're my hope for a future
Some are happy and some are amazed
Some are devoted
Some are saved
I was one, but I was saved
Again, again
Beautiful star of a daytime drama

Eyes Without A Face

I'm all out of hope
One more bad dream could bring a fall
When I'm far from home
Don't call me on the phone
To tell me you're alone
It's easy to deceive
It's easy to tease
But hard to get release

Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.

I spend so much time
Believing all the lies
To keep the dream alive
Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth
For loving what was you

Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.

When you hear the music you make a dip
Into someone else's pocket then make a slip.
Steal a car and go to Las Vegas oh, the gigolo pool.
I'm on a bus on a psychedelic trip
Reading murder books tryin' to stay hip.
I'm thinkin' of you you're out there so
Say your prayers.
Say your prayers.
Say your prayers.

Now I close my eyes
And I wonder why
I don't despise
Now all I can do
Is love what was once
So alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes
I'd better realise

Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Les yeux sans visage eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.
Such a human waste your eyes without a face
And now it's getting worse.

Blue Highway

Show my dear friends
It's to put your hands
I ought to start this here
Rain for a day glow
But when you wants to boy so
And I wake up in the USA

Oh you know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with the legs you're blind
On a blue highway
Wave hellow to pride
on my highway
Yes I almost died
On a blue highway

Oh some sweet mask
Or it's kind of a bitter risk
Out to ride the night
Oh sister's so hip too
I hear you and I miss you
Co-starring in the USA

Oh you know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with the legs you're blind
On a blue highway
Wave hellow to pride
on my highway
Yes I almost died
On a blue highway

Why do I miss you
Why did I kiss you
Because

Oh you know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with the legs you're blind
On a blue highway
Wave hellow to pride
on my highway
Yes I almost died

So glad that you're living now
I'm glad that you're here
I'm glad that you wanna stay
Because

You know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with the legs you're blind
On a blue highway
Wave hellow to pride
on my highway
Yes I almost died
On a blue highway
On a blue highway

Wings and we'll wind the love
Yes there's a time a time for love
Then you kissed me
On a blue highway

Why do I miss you
Why did I kiss you

Flesh For Fantasy

There's a change in pace
Of fantasy and taste
Do you like good music?
Do you like to dance? Oh yeah.
Hangin' out for a body shop at night
Ain't it strange what we do to feel alright? Oh yeah.
So when will you call?
I'm experienced Oh yeah

Face to face
And back to back
You see and feel
My sex attack
Sing it
Flesh, flesh for fantasy
We want
Flesh, flesh for fantasy

It's after midnight
Are you feelin' alright oh yeah
Turn on the light, babe
Are you someone else tonight?
Neighbour to neighbour, door to door
Don't ask questions, there's time for it all Oh yeah.

Face to face
And back to back
You see and feel
My sex attack
Sing it
Flesh, flesh for fantasy
We cry
Flesh, flesh for fantasy

I sing for culture...

Father loves his son,
Mothers, daughters, too.
It's an old old story,
Cries the new world too.

Flesh, flesh for fantasy
We want
Flesh, flesh for fantasy
We want
Flesh, flesh for fantasy
You cry
Flesh, flesh for fantasy

Crank Call

If you're waiting for a call
It is double trouble the pressure of it all
This line is due for communication
Not if you've lost all reason

Crank call
Ain't no fun at all

They want love they want a pantomime
To cut you in two that's a sexual crime
They dig the dirt they deal in
They dig the dirt they feed on

Crank call
Ain't no fun at all

Oh yeah, all right
We don't waste time tonight
Oh yeah, all right
Why waste time tonight
Oh yeah, all right
I'm mad I'm all right
That tonight

We drop in you in heaven or hell
Ape has taken control
They're breakin' the kids
They're beating the bids
And that is all they feed on

Crank call
Ain't no fun at all

Oh yeah, all right
We don't waste time tonight
Oh yeah, all right
I'm mad I'm all right
Oh yeah, all right
Why waste time tonight
Oh yeah, all right
I'm mad I'm all right
That tonight

Oh yeah, all right
Why waste time tonight
Oh yeah, all right
I'm mad I'm all right

Oh yeah, all right
Why waste time tonight
Oh yeah, all right
I'm mad I'm all right
That tonight

(Do Not) Stand in the Shadows

Hearts which beat
To a precise beat
Painting shadows on the wall
Well, we cut our cars and fly by bars
All for one and one for all
Like a teenage sleaze
A comic book tease
With your art on your sleeve
Well, you know you won't run
You won't hide
And you jump like a son of a gun
Wow

Do not stand in the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow, oh oh
Do not stand in the shadow
Oh, lonely
Oh, lonely

Watching people on my walls
Well, my Momma and Daddy thought that they had me fooled
I wasn't thinking, not at all
Well I got out
I was not gonna stand
In the dark without a light
Forget ill luck
If you believe
That the chance could sit and wait

Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Dark and evil in the shadow oh oh
Do not stand in the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow, oh oh
Do not stand in the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow, oh oh oh
Oh, oh, oh

And now we've touched down
Moving all around
Yeah, living to a blaster sound
No preachers, teachers freak out man
To the sound of false alarm
They ain't here today
Let me hear you say
You're alive and you're living with me
So, don't try to hide
Don't try to die
In the dark of the night

Do not stand in the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow, oh oh
Do not stand in the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow
In the shadow
In the shadow
Do not stand in the shadow

The Dead Next Door

Watch the sky
For a reason why
I'm safe here
Sunday it was part
Monday it was none
Monday was none
For the dead next door
One pair of silent terror reins
And we're the dead next door

The heat of the day fades away
Fades into the night
The heat of the day
Offering a wedding
Suffering away
For the dead next door
You see
One error, silent terror
And we're the dead next door

In animal land
And dark is in command
One thing you should know
Don't hear that knocking
Don't eat out of their hand
Don't stumble, die
You say
Don't stumble, cry
They see you and me
You and me
With the dead next door
You and me
With the dead next door
You and me
With the dead next door

Rebel Yell is the second studio album by the English rock singer Billy Idol, released on 10 November 1983 by Chrysalis Records. After the release of his 1982 eponymous debut studio album, Idol continued his collaboration with producer Keith Forsey and multi-instrumentalist Steve Stevens. The album was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York. Initially recording without a drummer, utilizing only the LinnDrum and Roland TR-808 drum machines, Forsey and Stevens later decided to hire Thommy Price to play drums on some of the songs.

Musically, Rebel Yell is a new wave album with hard rock and other influences. The cover sleeve and images were shot by Brian Griffin. Idol got the idea of the album's title after attending a party with the Rolling Stones and drinking Rebel Yell bourbon whiskey.
