Turning ten years old doesn't happen everyday
I knew the day was special and I went out to play
And then early afternoon I saw the cookie jar
Mama looked and said go get your father at the bar
I walked right in the bar saw my daddy on the stool
He looked a bit surprised and asked why I'm not in school
I said it's Saturday oh goodness sake
He gave me twenty dollars to go and get myself a cake
Everydays my birthday at the bar
At first I thought it really was bizarre
There were happy birthday wishes as if I was a star
Everydays my birthday at the bar
Turning ten years old don't happen everyday
These are recollections I can't seem to wash away
I went to the bakery I chose my birthday cake
One with lemon frosting that I wouldn't have to bake
