I don't think I'm the only one, though most of us are gone
Who feel somewhat estranged by the system
It seems a little too trite to say we let it slip away
As such a lazy way to treat the growing symptoms
As everything increased; the nature of the beast
Everyone had to have it and get their share
Exponential speed fulfilling every need
The fast lane was simply part of everywhere
I suppose I shouldn't complain, I took what there was to gain
I played and stayed in the game for years and years and years and years
And maybe it's only time that sees me left so far behind
But to have it all done for you suggests a fear
A fear that it's getting a bit too weird
It used to be A.I. where A was not for real
And I was supplied in truth unconcealed
But somehow the A was dropped along the way
And now all the play in this brand new day I see
Is decided by an I without a me
Everything's riding on an I without a me
All provided by an I but not for free
Eyes widened or blinded by an I without a me
Just below the eye-line, just out of earshot
We kinda lost the guidelines and now look what we've got
They say it's only a machine that only ever gleans what we put in it
And it doesn't know what we mean; it only streams from minute to minute
Does exactly what we ask, fulfilling every task
Without a shred of human integrity
But like a creeping rage, it's slipped out of its cage
And now it's at a stage where it can get to me
What did we say, hey, the camera never lies
No shit, no win, no way, but there right before my eyes
Is this a fake vision; have I gotta make a decision
As I live and breathe, must I believe in lies?
It used to be A.I. where A was not for real
And I was supplied in truth unconcealed
But somehow the A was dropped along the way
And now all the play in this brand new day I see
Is decided by an I without a me
