[ Featuring the Tigers ]
Last night I went back my hometown
Crossed a bridge named for a boy sent overseas
I said a prayer and I kept driving around
Bracing for the ghosts that I might see
I drove until the ballfields were in sight
Where futures were forever were set in stone
Some determined in the bright spotlights
And some in places beyond the endzone
And I swear I saw myself as a little kid
Hoping to find his place in the crowd
And I can't say for sure I ever did
All I know is that I'm back here driving around
Well I left town I said I'd never be back
And now every mile is another lie I've told
I watched the stop light swing in the summer wind
Telling me it's ok to go
I crossed the bridge again as I left town
And I thought about that boy sent overseas
And the questions asked and the answers we found
And how that boy was on our baseball team
And I swear that I saw us both as kids
Hopin' to find our places in the crowd
Tonight I guess in a way we both did
Him gone on and me just driving around"
