Fungi are amazing, come along and see,
They're neither plants nor animals, they're in their own big tree,
With hyphae spreading underground, they're hidden from our eyes,
But when they grow a mushroom cap, they reach up to the skies
Fungi, fungi, working in the ground,
Breaking down the dead stuff, spreading all around,
Fungi, fungi, what a sight to see,
Helping all the plants grow, under every tree
Some fungi are decomposers, they eat up all the waste,
Turning leaves and logs to soil, they never leave a trace,
Mycorrhizae help the roots, of trees and plants so tall,
They share the food and water, they're the best friends of them all
There's yeast in bread and brewing, making bubbles rise,
Penicillin fights infections, it's a mold that's really wise,
Lichens on the rocks and trees, in a symbiotic dance,
With algae, they make food and give the surface a chance
Some fungi can be parasites, they need a host to thrive,
But even then, in nature's plan, they help the earth survive,
With spores that float and travel far, they spread across the land,
From forests deep to grassy fields, they make the world so grand
So next time when you see a mushroom, or moldy bread, or more,
Remember all the fungi friends, they're worth a great encore,
They're nature's tiny helpers, in the soil and in the air,
Fungi, fungi everywhere, with them, the world we share
Fungi, fungi, working in the ground,
Breaking down the dead stuff, spreading all around,
Fungi, fungi, what a sight to see,
Helping all the plants grow, under every tree
