Little fingers tracing letters to an elegy
With each word bespoke to illustrate a memory
All the years and moments summed into this poetry
That breaks your heart to read
Christmas comes and I feel a void next to me
A stinging silence for weeks and months in lethargy
We pretend that the love won't atrophy
Through those dark cold nights
Cross my name out and wish you never would remember me
Or the times I lied there passed out with you next to me
I wonder how long it takes till we both forget everything
Little fingers tracing letters to our elegy
With each word bespoke to illustrate the memory
Did it burn when you heard aloud
"Just please leave before I break tonight?"
