Noah Kahan is a singer/songwriter of folk-infused pop in the vein of
Ben Howard and
Vance Joy.
Writing songs since the age of eight and growing into a raspy vocal delivery, he was in high school when he approached friends in the music business about helping him produce and upload some of his work to music-sharing sites.
Kahan signed with Republic Records at the age of 20. The label released his songs "Young Blood," "Hold It Down," and "Sink" in quick succession as official singles in the first half of 2017.
“‘Hurt Somebody’ is about the paralyzing fear of not being able to cut loose ends - even if it’s ultimately for the greater good,” Kahan tells Billboard. “Ending things can be painful, and ‘Hurt Somebody’ illuminates the inner dialogue of trying to stomach the weight of that decision.”
The second half of the year included a tour in support of the
Strumbellas and the release of another single, "Hurt Somebody."
